Greet Every Saint [Philippians 4.21—23]

Greet Every Saint [Philippians 4.21—23]

In today’s verses, Paul closes his letter. And, he closes the letter by asking the Philippians to greet other Christians. It is important that we treat each other very well as Christians. We are all part of the same body—the Church. Others can see how to treat one another by how Christians treat one another. We are to be salt and light.

Reasonableness [Philippians 4.4-5]

Reasonableness [Philippians 4.4-5]

These verses may be tough read when this is released—that is, depending on how you candidate faired. This verse is part of Paul’s closing of his letter. He says twice to rejoice, and more specifically to rejoice in the Lord. This is universal—as a Christian, no matter where you are in life, rejoice in the Lord. Rejoice when you are up. Rejoice when you are down. You are saved! And, there is nothing that can get in-between that.

Fight the Good Fight of Faith [1 Timothy 6.12]

Fight the Good Fight of Faith [1 Timothy 6.12]

This verse and passage of Scripture (1 Timothy 6.11—20) couldn’t be more relevant than right now in the U.S., just days from an election. Fighting the good fight of faith isn’t convincing your friends and family to vote for President Trump or Senator Biden. Sorry. It’s not. Fighting the good fight of faith is whether or not your actions are bringing others to Christ. This is something that I have to constantly remind myself of in election years. If what I am doing doesn’t bring people to Christ or bring me closer to Christ, then I need to cut it out. We need to be salt and light to the world—examples of Christianity.

Be the Light [Philippians 2.15-18]

Be the Light [Philippians 2.15-18]

These verses ring true in 2020. Why are people rioting, looting, and burning down cities? I don’t believe the answer is political. I believe the answer is spiritual. COVID-19 has folks at home this year. That means Christians are home, as well. I believe that with the “salt and light” not out in the world, we will have more chaos. We can have a teeny taste of what would happen if Christians were raptured. Things get exponentially worse in Revelation after the Rapture. In the passage below we see that we are called to be “lights in the world.”

Begin With The End in Mind [Philippians 1.21—27]

Begin With The End in Mind [Philippians 1.21—27]

Paul’s life is about advancing the Kingdom. That is the bottom line, and with joy. So, for Paul, “to live is Christ”, that is, to serve Christ. Yet, “to die” would be “gain.” Huh? What he means here is that by dying he’d be with Christ. Either way Paul wins—he serves Christ and advances the Kingdom, or he dies and is with Christ. This is a great starting point that we all can take in 2020.
