Unveiled Faces

Crucified With Christ [Galatians 2.20]

The main purpose of Paul’s letter to the church in Galatia was to counter the argument put forth by a group known as the Judaizers who believed those coming to faith in Jesus must first submit to Jewish customs, rites and the Law before being accepted into the Christian community. This may seem like a “no-brainer” to us today, but this was the first big issue the Church of Jesus Christ faced and there was much debate, with key members of leadership on opposite sides of the issue. And what was at stake? Only the very gospel of grace offered by Jesus and taught by Paul!!!

Follow [Matthew 8.18-23]

In today’s reading Jesus says two words that echo through time: Follow Me. Not when you are ready. Now. Go to the Greek on it, go to the Hebrew: “Leave the dead to bury the dead” to follow Him means this: leave the dead to bury the dead to follow Him. In saying this, Jesus is setting a baseline that nothing is as important as following Him.

Transform [2 Corinthians 5.17]

Good morning, friends and kindred. Today we are reading 2 Corinthians 5.17. I would encourage you to read all of chapter 5 this morning as we meditate on this verse. It is imperative that we read scripture contextually so that we do not misinterpret the meaning in which the author is writing for! This will help in our understanding of verse 17. It is a beautiful mystery that before the beginning, God already chose and knew his children! When God speaks, by necessity it must take place. I pray that today we would see that it is all joy, and we would accept the blessings the Lord has given us. Praise King Jesus, it’s all joy.

The What, How, and Why of Transformation [Romans 12.1-3]

Many speakers over time have given calls to action. We have heard TED talks, charges to graduating classes, employers motivating company employees, and newly married couples being toasted and challenged as they embark on a new life together. Usually, the best “speeches” not only give the call to action, the “what” one should do, but also “how” one is to do it, and of course the “why” they should act. They also may highlight some pitfalls one should avoid. Paul, in his letter to the believers in Rome, includes all of these things in his call to grace-inspired Gospel transformation.
