Today, we conclude our journey through the life of Jesus of Nazareth as chronicled by the historian/physician Luke; and what an exciting conclusion it is!!!
Jesus, the one who was supposed to save and redeem Israel was dead. To everyone He had died and was therefore defeated. But then they find an empty tomb. What could it mean?
I think this is very convicting in 21st century America, where we have the ‘mefirst’ and ‘youdo you’ movements. But let it not be so for us, the Christ-follower.
What a promise to read today. Despite all of the trials, tribulations, persecution--and possible martyrdom--that Jesus guarantees to come the way of a disciple that lives for His names’ sake, He promises that no harm will be done to us…Seems like a paradox, right?
Jesus reveals His desire for us to give generously in this passage. He instructs us to examine our own motivations and acceptance that He is our true, supreme, and ultimate provider.
