Put on Christ [Galatians 3.27-28]

What are you putting on?

I will be the first to admit that I can be a snob about the types of food I eat, books I read, and clothing labels I wear. It’s easy to think those choices define us. But Paul reminds us that the greatest clothing we can wear is Christ’s righteousness, and the greatest statement about us is that we are in Christ Jesus, and by extension we are one with all others who claim Christ.

How our perspective would change if we consciously put on Christ and saw ourselves as part of a larger unified body in Him!

Galatians 3.27-28

27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

[ WHAT ] is this passage saying and what is a key truth or thought that we learn?

+ In what way does baptism provide a picture of putting on Christ? What does it mean to put on Christ?

+ What distinctions does Paul say are not important in light of Christian unity? Does this mean these distinctions do not matter?

[ HOW ] is the Lord calling me to action/obedience?

+ Is there sin to confess or a next step to take? How has it gone since last time?

+ What does it mean to put on Christ each day?

+ Am I striving for unity in the body of Christ? Where am I letting my prejudices of people’s differences keep me from living in unity with them in Christ?

[ WHO ] am I walking with and praying for to discover Jesus?

+ What is my next step?
