When God Came Down

There Will be a Branch [Isaiah 11:1-10]

There Will be a Branch [Isaiah 11:1-10]

Today our text comes from Isaiah which foretold of the coming Messiah. Written hundreds of years before the birth of Christ Jews held great hope in the coming of one who would reign forever. We see in these verses today that this ruler called a “branch” will come from the house of David, be qualified in every way, be just, bring peace, and be for all people.

When God Came Down [Matthew 24:36-44]

When God Came Down [Matthew 24:36-44]

Matthew 24 may be one of the most debated chapters in all of Scripture. Is Jesus describing events that would be entirely fulfilled with the Fall of Jerusalem at the hands of the Romans in 70AD, or are all of these events yet to take sometime in the future, or are they a combination of both? Greater minds than ours have wrestled with these verses and differ on their interpretations. One thing is for sure; the Bible clearly states that Jesus IS coming back!!!

Put on the Lord [Romans 13:13-14]

Put on the Lord [Romans 13:13-14]

Yesterday, Michael covered Romans 13:11-12 which encouraged us to “put on the armor of light”. How, exactly, do we do that? In today’s reading we get our answer: we are to “put on the Lord Jesus Christ”. We all know what happens tomorrow in America. You’re going to see tons of lights. They’ll be draped on Main Street, hung on trees, and wrapped around polls. Oddly enough, many of these lights will be intended to draw us to some of the very things Romans warns about (sensuality, immorality, and general excess).

Put on the Armor of Light [Romans 13:11-12]

Put on the Armor of Light [Romans 13:11-12]

In today’s passage, Paul exhorts the readers to “cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.” This is both an external call since Paul uses an external metaphor for light and darkness, saying that the night is gone and the day is at hand, and an internal call since Paul uses an internal metaphor of waking from sleep (a transition from darkness to light).

Let Us Go to the House of the Lord [Psalm 122]

Let Us Go to the House of the Lord [Psalm 122]

Good morning! Today we are reading together in Psalm 122. This chapter's title is “Let Us Go to the House of the Lord.” As we read and reflect on this Psalm, I want to encourage you to encourage those around you daily. Find deep joy and gladness in the times of community you get to spend with your Christian brothers and sisters around you. You have immeasurable intrinsic value, you matter tremendously. Let those around you know that they matter too. Pray for peace; have joy, and find great gladness in your opportunities for community and fellowship with other believers. Praise King Jesus.
