The Son of David [Luke 20.41-44]

A few weeks ago we were introduced to Jesus as the Son of David. This is how the blind beggar addressed him in Luke 18. Unfortunately, the people of that day often misunderstood what the Messiah was going to do. Some imagined the Messiah to be the one to overthrow the oppressive Roman regime. He was so much more, by referencing Psalm 110, and asking a question, Jesus wanted to widen their view of the Messiah...He is Lord! Perhaps our view of Jesus is too small. May we spend the day contemplating the Lordship of Christ.

[Luke 20.41-44]

41 But he said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is David’s son? 42 For David himself says in the Book of Psalms, “ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, 43 until I make your enemies your footstool.” ’ 44 David thus calls him Lord, so how is he his son?”
