In today’s passages, Jesus is resolved. His is resolute for Jerusalem. We read in verse 51, “When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem”. The time had come for Jesus. His life on Earth was nearing the end.

Jesus would soon die for us all. As Jesus sent messengers to Samaria, he knew this. And he knew the Samaritans would reject him. This is one of many rejections he knew he’d face. And, despite this knowing, Jesus set his face for Jerusalem. To Jerusalem he went. To the cross he went for each and every one of his rejectors. Each and every one of us. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD.” All have at some point rejected him.

And while his disciples wish to punish the Samaritans for rejecting Jesus, Jesus would have none of that. Because he came to save us all. He gives each of us time to accept his invitation for salvation. His invitation is crystal clear, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to Father except thru me”. Have you accepted the invitation? Are you inviting others? Jesus desire is for all to come.

51 When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make preparations for him. 53 But the people did not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” 55 But he turned and rebuked them. 56 And they went on to another village.
