John: A Prophet [Matthew 3:4-6]

After the 400 years of God’s silence and no prophets, John comes preaching the word of God, speaking of the kingdom of heaven. No wonder people flocked to hear him in interest! Today we look at his appearance, where he ministers, and what he does.


Matthew 3:4-6

4 Now John wore a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. 5 Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him, 6 and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

+ What does John eat? His diet is very simple and can be found in the wilderness where he lives and preaches. What do you think his simple choices of food and clothing say about his character?
