Inexpressible, Glorious Joy [1 Peter 1:8-9]

Today, we are looking at 1 Peter 1:8-9. Let me just say, I love this book of the Bible. It encourages me to enjoy the riches and goodness of God, but at the same time guides me in the duties I should shoulder as a child of God. It’s like a loving affirmation while simultaneously being a rebuke. In our western culture, the church is incredibly blessed to be as free as we are. Peter is writing to the suffering and persecuted believers of Asia minor, and encouraging them to continue so with rejoicing and praise to God. Peter does so by affirming what is good, and exhorting believers with how to act in obedience as apprentice’s of Jesus. As our culture shifts, I believe the church will see oppression more directly than ever. I would encourage you to read all of chapter 1 today. As we reflect on this passage, my prayer is that we will pursue the Lord more than ever before, be embraced by His love, and be obedient to His calling. Praise King Jesus.
