This Psalm is a joyful celebration of the Lord’s steadfast love. Have you paused to recognize the steadfast love of God towards you? This psalm instructs us how to respond to God’s goodness–in praise, thanksgiving, and singing.
Verses 25-6 are of special note this week, since it is the same thing that the people sang when Jesus entered Jerusalem in the triumphal entry that we celebrate on Palm Sunday. Consider today what it means that Jesus is the fulfillment of this Psalm.
[Psalm 118.25-29]
118.25 25 Save us, we pray, O LORD!
O LORD, we pray, give us success!
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!
We bless you from the house of the LORD.
27 The LORD is God,
and he has made his light to shine upon us.
Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
up to the horns of the altar!
28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
you are my God; I will extol you.
29 Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!

+ V. 25 Fun fact: “Save us we pray” or “Hoshiʿah na" in Hebrew, when transliterated into the Greek, becomes “Hosanna.” This is a joyful cry because the Lord has worked and the people are returning to the temple, the house of the Lord.
